Goodbye and thank you, we're selling the property

Dear guests and patrons of the Spring Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast in Elk Rapids, Michigan,

As you may have seen on our website, I’m sorry to say that I’m closing the B&B. It has been my great pleasure to share this beautiful place with all of you over the last six years and I hope that you’ve added many beautiful memories, as I have. Over the 24 years that I was fortunate enough to live there while I raised my children and hosted my family and friends, I anticipated that someday it would make a great B & B and so I began that venture in 2019.

But now, our wonderful Innkeeper, Darci Bartlett, is moving to southern Michigan. We wish her every success! You can stay in touch with her through her connection to Interim Innkeepers Network at interiminnkeepers.net. With her departure, the responsibilities and workload to continue it are simply too much for me at this time of my life, and so not only will I close the B & B, but I will be selling the property as well. I apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment for you as we unwind the reservations and return deposits.

Perhaps you know someone who would be perfect to purchase it to carry on the torch as a B & B? That status carries on with the house should the next owner wish to continue; or perhaps you know someone with a big family who would love to live in this home in Elk Rapids. Please watch our Spring Lighthouse website throughout this process to keep up with the news of its future. If we get lucky, maybe a new owner will step right in to carry on for this next season and you’ll all be back. Whatever happens, please know that I have appreciated your patronage and kind words over the years. Maybe we’ll meet someday if I come as a guest to stay in my old bedroom!

"Our lunches on the patio with the awning were so enjoyable, late afternoon taking advantage of comfortable lounging on chairs and of course table and chairs on rock for coffee. Two brave souls went swimming two days. They said water was great. One day an American Eagle graced us with his presence . DarcI and Tom are classic hosts, welcoming, helpful and you really do feel like a personal guest in their home. The house is spectacular right by the water, if you leave the bedroom door open you can hear the waves. Beautiful lounging areas with an extensive library. Great rooms, comfortable beds. Coffee and refrigerator in room. Everything spotlessly clean. Wonderful breakfast shared with other interesting guests. Can't find anything to fault. looking forward to our third trip."
